You need to eat ALL day. Eat every 2.5-3 hours, and make sure you eat protien in every meal. Combined with the right carbs (like fruits and veggies) you WILL burn fat. 80% of how you look is what you eat, only 20% is whether or not you're working out.

I'm not sure that there's any one food that burns fat....but there are foods that can help you to metabolize food better......Knowing what foods you're consuming and what they do will help you in making better decisions as to what to eat....I believe its exercise that contributes to burning fat and calories. Exercise can consist of walking briskly, jogging, sit ups, pushups...jumping rope.....really whatever you feel your body can do.
