what goes w/ rice?

Last night I made rice w/ broccoli and cheese...sooo yummy. I could eat it by itself, but SO prefers rice to be a side dish only. I could use some suggestions! What goes with rice? What do you serve rice with?

  • anything :D

my family though eats more chicken than red meat, and we don't eat pork.

I just season up some chicken breasts and bake them. We have the rice with broccoli and cheese quite often :)

  • Ooh, a roasted chicken, or even a rotisserie chicken if your grocery store sells them, for something quick & easy! You could slice a steak thin & saute it, same with boneless skinless chicken breasts. I don't know, I'm a big fan of chicken & rice! How'd you make the rice? What's your recipe? My family loves rice, and broccoli & cheese too, lol!

  • I typically hear about it being served as a side with baked fish and with Mexican dishes. :) You could also mix peas and corn in it as a side dish.

  • ANYTHING. Rice really doesn't have much of a flavor and takes on the flavor of what you cook it with. I make wild rice w/ some chicken stock, grilled chicken, salad. I love things on my rice though. Curries, chinese, peanut sauce, etc.
