Teeth question; How long do veneers last?

I've been watching this make-over-show on television lately. Most of the time they do the people's teeth. But I was wondering how long they last. Because right that moment it looks great and the show pays for it. But when do they need to be renewed? Do they need to at all? Can you lose them? Because if you do and can't afford to get new ones... what's left of you original teeth really looks a mess then.
Just wondering.

  • They don't need to be replaced, like a crown doesn't. It's metal and enamal, and very strong. I know this because my brother makes teeth for a living. (crown, bridges, veneers, etc . . .) What is left of your original teeth is a mess.
