can you lose your medical card after being denied social security disability?

My MIL has been recieveing state medical card for a few years now,she has severe COPD,asthma,diabetes,etc...Her doctors suggested she file for disability benefits, but she was denied. After being denied social security the state (ohio) sent her a letter saying that she was no longer eligble to recieve a medical card...is this legal?? Her numerous medications rack up to a couple grand a month-and the only income is my FIL's disability (less than $800 a month) because he is unable to work after open heart surgery...it just didnt seem right after recieving her medical card for a few years now-all the sudden they take it. Anybody know of any legitimate prescription assistance in Ohio? Thanks!!

  • She can fight it. Tell her not to give up. They send those letters out so often and most of the people who fight it win in the end.
