  • As compared to what?  200 years ago when they were in work houses before they hit double digits or married by 14.

  • Yup - scares the heck outta me too. My twins are almost 18 months old so I have a while but...ugh....

  • No. I think they are actually less mature and grown up than when I was a kid an certainly nothing like my great grandmothers generation where they were working full days by 9 years old. Today's kids are spoiled and more materialistic. One of the reasons we don't celebrate Christmas, have a TV or participate in many of the consumer driven activities in this country. I want my kids to grow up to be mature and balanced adults not entitled brats.

  • Some - teenage parents, children who have to care for their own parents...

But like PP - some are VERY immature and are being sheltered WAY too much.

  • I think the kids are growing up too fast but in the wrong way. Years and years ago kids grew up fast but they were mature and some where goal driven. Kids now especially where I grew up at are way too grown but they are immature and materialistc.

  • Some are, but their parents let them. I'm keeping mine age appropriate. They're going to grow, and I love that about kids, but I'm not going to let them jump ahead to, say teens, when they're not even pre-teen.

  • Yes....these days it's all about electronics and cell phones. PLUS my DD started her period at 9 years old. UGH.
