My 5 1/2 month olds poop

Her poop has been green and now its dark, dark green almost black. She is now fully on formula since 5 months and eating some baby foods like bananas, and cereal. Is that normal? Should I call her pedi?

  • It's pretty normal for baby's poop to change colors even when her diet doesn't vary much. I wouldn't worry unless she starts straining to go or having really loose stool.

  • Sounds normal but calling the doctor wont hurt either.

  • My 4 1/2 mo old has DARK green bms and they're very runny and STINK. I have taken him to the doctor and everything is fine - he said as long as it's green it's fine - but if it's tar black that's a sign of blood in the stools. So yours sounds fine to me!

  • my daughters pediatrician told me his golden rule is the color, texture, smell, and form, dont matter as long as it isnt diereha bc it will never be the same and it is nothing to worry about
