You'll feel better if you just eat high protein veggies and beans. Protein shakes are often filled with dairy and can really give you gas or constipation. Even if lactose isn't a problem for you.
Become friends with hummus, beans, nuts, and brown rice. Almond milk and hemp seed milk have good proteins. They are easy to put in a smoothie in place of milk or protein powder.
