# How much protein does a person loosing weight need?

I've looked online but haven't found a number. I know that a I need 55 grams of protein a day, but doesn't that increase if I'm trying to loose weight?

• How to Calculate Your Protein Needs:

1. Weight in pounds divided by 2.2 = weight in kg
2. Weight in kg x 1.8 gm/kg = protein gm.

• Yeah, I found that. That doesn't tell me if I'm going to start loosing weight how much I need.

• if you aren't exercising, you would multiply the kg by 0.8.

yes it does tell you, if you do the math to figure it out.

I weigh 166. 166/2.2=75.5. 75.5X1.8=135.9 g of protein if exercising
75.7X0.8=60 g of protein if I am not exercising.
