Quick Question

DH and I are having ALOT of trouble TTC. We are wanting to adopt. BUT, he is a convicted felon. So adopting wouldn't be possible would it?

  • Here is another idea - if your problem is getting pregnant, you might consider embryo donation. Google that and see what comes up. There are organizations that will match you with a couple who has embryos that they do not plan to "use". The cost will be similar to an IVF cycle or an inexpensive adoption, and you'd get to carry the pregnancy.

  • I don't believe so unless it was an in family adoption and didn't go through city and state entities.

  • It might depend on your state and how long it's been sense the convicted felony and what the felony charges are.

  • A similar question was asked a few months ago here and the majority of the responses said it would be very difficult.Since expectant women pick out the families they wish to adopt their child it would be up to them.Overwhelmingly they said they would not pick out a convicted felon to parent their child.Sorry.

  • it depends on what he was convicted of. private adoption would be an option

  • You would need to check your state laws. There were papers we had to sign for the court that asked about many things, including that.
