  • If they fell the need to point those things out, then they probably really are racist.

  • because white people are often attacked as being racist if they dont have black friends or know black people, so its just to show were not racist and let whoever is being talked to that yes, we do like black people, we have black contacts/friends/family.. people often think every white person is racist, its like a defense mechanism.

  • If they didn't and said "well their have been lots of people who did things for America who are not recognized, why should he get a day" some people might take that as a racist comment. SO, they have to make up reasons why they are not racist.

  • hmmm not sure. I am white. I don't believe I'm a racist because I'm friends with people and what they've done in their lives not what their color has or hasn't done for them, or me. I know from my own family that older generations than me who are white believe blacks and whites shouldn't even be friends, must less marry.

  • White people don't always say a certain thing, like black people don't always say a certain thing.

Stereotyping and generalizations are the very things that feed racism.

  • White guilt. We are told daily we are bad because we are white. So many to prove they are not bad and racist talk about their black friends and how non bigoted they are. It is really sad but many have bought into this.
