When will he recognize his name?

My lil guy is 3months now & I was wondering when he'll start to recognize his own name. He is so much more attentive & responsive now, but he doesn't respond to his name yet. Is this something that takes awhile, or should it be sometime soon?

  • He most likely is already figured it out or he's getting close.. unless he was a premie then it'll take longer but.. they figure stuff out long before they can react to it

  • It could be anytime. My son responded to his name pretty early, about 2 months. But I also spoke to him and called him by name before he was born. As soon as I found out we were having a boy, I started using his name instead of calling him "the baby".

  • I try to refer to him by his name as much as possible, but I didn't so much while I was still pregnant even though we already had his named picked out. I guess I'll just have to wait it out a little longer...

  • Well he was 3 weeks early, so that might be why it's taking a little while...almost everything else he did "on time" so far but they warned us that some things may take a little longer...
