Does anyone else get really REALLY tired when you're on your period?

I'm a fit, active person..I walk 3-5 miles a day 4-5 times a week...EXCEPT when I'm on my period, I don't even wanna walk as far as the bathroom when I'm on my I also sleep a LOT if I can get away with it...11-13 hrs. a night when normally 8-9 hrs. is fine..I also take 2 hr. naps. I'm on my period right now and trying so hard to psyche myself up to put on my sneakers and go for a walk, the sun is out and I know I'd feel better if I went but I just CANNOT summon up the energy...does anyone else feel this way on their cycle?

  • Maybe you just need to rest. I am a firm believer that our body truly does let us know what it needs. Your body needs a little down time. If you were extremely tired all the time, then I would be concerned.

  • OP here: I DO take vitamins~! Spiruleena, omega 3 oils, E, royal jelly, evening primrose...zzzzz..I'm getting sleepy just coming up with my!

  • do u take an iron supplement? could be because u get anemic durring periods. if u have bad cramps I recomend a calcium supplement. and for a general wake up I recomend a B-complex

  • I do too. I also look unhealthy. Everybody is always asking if I am sick when it's that time of the month. I also take a multi-vitamin and omega-3 supplements everyday. I think it is just that my body has a hard time with my fluctuating hormones. When I was pregnant with my son, I always felt ill and could never get enough sleep.

  • Op here...yes, there's iron in the spiruleena I take...could be I need more during my cycle though, thanks for pointing that out. I also take calcium/magnesium at night :)

  • i can't stay awake the second day of my cycle. My flow is super heavy and i'm lucky to keep my eyes open after 8 pm. I just attribute it to the extra loss of blood on that day, and anyway, I'm super nasty to everyone that day, they probably appreciate my lack of family involvement!!

  • Op here...thank you peace1234, maybe you're right.. I guess I should just listen to my body, I feel perfectly healthy the rest of the time. I just feel like I'm not doing right by my body not exercising for the week it takes to get through this...well, that and I'm worried my @ss will get
