  • People who are depressed may:

Think and speak more slowly than normal.
Have trouble concentrating, remembering, and making decisions.
Have changes in their eating and sleeping habits.
Lose interest in things they enjoyed before they were depressed.
Have feelings of guilt and hopelessness, wondering if life is worth living.
Think a lot about death or suicide.
Complain about problems that don't have a physical cause, such as headache and stomachache.

Otherwise no, Boredom is not a sign of depression.

  • nope - its a sighn of ..... boredom!!

Answer by Anonymous at 8:29 PM on Jan. 18, 2010

  • No, it most certainly isn't. It is a sign of having NOTHING to do. Might want to pick up a hobby. Is there anything you could do to hold your interest? What about going to the library and checking out a few books? Could be fiction or an educational book. Just find something that you enjoy.

I attend a writer's workshop once a week. It forces me to actual write (which I love), and give me a great crowd with which to share my work.

Find something and go with it! Have fun!!!

  • well since losing interest in things that normally held your interest would cause a person to be bored, i personally would think that it could be. but there would need to be other things going on. either way, i agree with some of the other posters, get out of the house or find things around the house that need done. find/make yourself do things.

  • Boredom is a sign that you don't have enough to do and no interests. Try reading. Or going out to volunteer. Or get a job. Or go to college. Or walk. ANything that opens up your world to new things.

  • I think it's more a sign of lack of imagination and motivation.

  • It's the sign of elongated contentment. LOL I only get bored when I'm so content I have nothing else to do! Lots of things are signs of depression, lack of interest in things otherwise interested you is one. There are so many things to do! Go try one or all of them!! :)

  • It's a sign that you're in a rut. Go out and meet some new people, or try something new.
