How much milk should my son be getting?

If I were to let him my son would drink milk all day long. Hubby and I have decided that one 6 oz. cup with each meal is plenty. What do you think?

  • Yep -- what you described, 18 oz, is right on track. The recommendation is 16-20 oz. My 2.5 year old has hers in two doses -- 8 oz when she wakes up in the morning and another 8 after her nap. If she's really interested in it with a meal I'll give her a couple of ounces in a regular cup but she rarely finishes it.

  • My son is 14 months old and my pediatrician recommended between 16-20 ounces of milk for him. If he wants more than that, we give him water.
