looking for a new church in my area.

I have not been to church in about 3 years, since I moved from my hometown. I am in a completely different enviroment where I live now. There are A LOT of African Americans in my town, therefore, a lot, actually all except the catholic church, are centered around African American religions. I am perfectly fine with that by all means. But I was wondering, since I am Baptist, is a Shouting Baptist church relitively the same practice?

  • I have no idea, but I was going to suggest looking up Calvary Chapel or Sovereign Grace Ministries to see either of them have a church in your area.

  • Yes, Calvary Chapel and Sovereign Grace are similar to Baptist teachings. I grew up Baptist. I attended a Calvary Chapel while in college and dh and I now attend a church out of Sovereign Grace Ministries (the churches all have different names) and we love it there. DH grew up Baptist as well.

  • I go to a Calvary Chapel. I just posted a link in another question, so I can post a link so you can see if there are any in your area. I really like it.

  • ummm african-american religion? i didn't know we had our own religion.. the last time i checked, we were baptist, pentecostal, methodist, presbytarian, catholic, lutheran, etc. and i believe whites, mexicans, asians etc. can also be found in those churches. also, based on the fact u stated "african-american" religion.... why don't u check out one of their churches... broaden ur circle... become multi-cultural. i promise they will welcome u and they don't bite.
