what time did/do your kindergartener go to bed?

My son is not yet 6 and I put him to bed at 7:15 pm and wake him up at about 7 am. He says he's still tired and wants to sleep more. He gets home from his after school program at 5:30 with his dad and I'm home at 5:45pm. I am wondering when other people put their school agers to bed. He does get rest time in his full day kindergarten/ first gradeĀ  class as well but doesn't sleep most days.

  • Our 6yo has been going to bed at 8pm. He usually wakes up by himself between 6am and 7am.

  • Mine went to bed at 7 when they were in kindergarten, but they didn't have to get up until 8 - school didn't start until 9:15 and I drove them.

  • Our 6 yr old goes to bed at 7:30, we read a story and then lights out by 8pm. He's up at 6:30am for school. He doesn't complain about being tired... I'm not sure why your LO is so tired.

  • I try to have all 3 of my kids in bed around 9. (Ages 11, 5, 1) That way I don't have to deal w/ the fighting about who gets to stay up later. 5 y/o is such a pain in the butt!! He throws a fit and whines every morning. Sometimes he'll come home from school and take a nap too. His dad likes to sleep A LOT and I figure he gets it from him. And I think he does get rest/ quiet time in k too.

  • My 5.5 year old is in bed at 7:30, and up at 7:30. I do make him rest some days after school, but he never goes to sleep unless he isn't feeling well.

  • My kindergartner is in "quiet time" at 8 and in bed by 8:30. She can get up in the morning any time between 6:30 and 8. Normally, though she gets up at 7:30 am. She does not nap during the day.

  • According to this website:
    http://www.babycenter.com/0_how-much-sleep-does-your-child-need_64915.bc
Your son needs about 10 to 11 1/2 hours of sleep. My daughter is sleeping by 9 and up by 7:30am. she Isn't tired but on Saturdays, she's sleep until 8am.
