  • Anon 3:08 - I don't know about recent recommendations, but a few years ago there was some question about trace levels of mercury in some fish. Young children and pregnant women were advised to limit intake of these fish because of it. You can read the FDA's 2004 recommendations here: http://www.fns.usda.gov/fdd/facts/nutrition/fishfacts.pdf

OP - Yes. It's ok for him to eat it. Our ped had recommended limiting it to once or twice a week tops. Both my kids loved it as toddlers although my son won't touch it with a 10ft pole now. LOL! Go figure. ;)

  • Yes - but you want to avoid offering it daily. :) I think it's recommended in small amounts (tablespoon?) no more than once a week.

  • I wouldn't, but then we stopped using tuna a few years ago - it always made my husband lie awake unable to do to sleep. We blamed the mercury ... he is very sensitive: for instance, MSG acts upon him like strong caffeine.

When our kids were born, I listened to the advice to delay meat and eggs until they were 5 or 6. We ate milk products, grains, vegetables and nuts for their protein.

    Best wishes !
