am I wrong for makin my x sign a contract since we don't want the court to get in the middle

  • If he can agree to it, then I would try for it. It may not be LEGAL- but if you ever have to go to court it may help your case just a little bit!

  • Yes, you are wrong for thinking that some hand drawn contract means anything. You don't need a court to decide, you can just get a lawyer to draw up the paperwork, but believe me when I say: YOU NEED THIS TO BE DONE LEGALLY.

  • Have a lawyer draw it up to make sure it's executed properly thus making it legal and binding.

  • Yes, but have it NOTARIZED! This saved my butt in court when I divorced my 2nd husband. It was in regards to the kids and even though it was not a "legal" document filed with the court, it did still have bearing on the case when it did end up in court. Cover all your bases.
