My baby doesn't seem satisfied with her feeding, but won't take more than her normal amount??

My daughter is 4 months old. She was premature though so technically she should be about 6-7 wks. Her feedings are 4 ounces every 4 hours. In between feedings, she's been really fussy and not sleeping much. She's been routing like crazy. Anything you put up to her face, she tries to suck on it like she's absolutely starving. So i tried to increase her feeding to 4 1/2 oz, but she will only drink 4 oz of it and then acts like she's done, and gets mad if I try to keep feeding her. Anybody know what could be going on with her, or a solution? She doesn't wanna eat more than 4 oz but she routes, fusses, and acts like she's either starving or like something is wrong with her as soon as I go to lay her down. Anybody know??

  • burp, entertain her, rub her with baby lotion.
maybe try feeding her more often? like every 2-3 hours and see if she takes anymore.
it's hard to tell, but try to go through everything!
maybe she just needs to suck on something like a pacifier.
she may be teething as well? my daughter started that early...maybe try some oragel and see if it works?

  • I meant that she's been rooting... I don't know why I typed routing. Haha.

  • You probably need to shorten the intervals. Feed when she's hungry, not by the clock. Remember that her tummy is tiny and empties quickly...four hours for her is like asking you to go 12 hours without eating.

  • I've tried a pacifier, she spits it out. And I've tried feeding her every 2-3 hrs instead of 4. Doesn't change the way she's acting. If I fed her everytime she seems hungry then she'd be eating every 15 mins & that's just ridiculous. 10 mins after I finish feeding her, she gets fussy and starts trying to suck on anything she can get her mouth close to. So I've tried to give her another oz or so, she'll take a couple of sucks, then gets this really disgusted look on her face, spits it out, then starts fussing and crying. But it's not like I'm starving her by feeding her every 4 hrs just because that's when I want her to eat... I've tried to feed her more often, she won't take it, yet she acts like she's starving 24'7! If it were as simple as feeding her more often, I wouldn't be on here now asking for advice! Thanks for your answers so far though!
