Reasonable distance to walk to school?

Many days, I have to walk my son to school. We are moving soon and I was just curious what you think a reasonable distance to walk to school daily is. My son is 8.

  • I think that depends on where you live.
We live a mile and a half from school. I think that is fine for me and my 8 yr old to walk. BUT since it is on a busy street I wouldnt let her walk alone.

If your asking can an 8 yr old walk 2 miles - of course.

  • The schools around here now say only a few blocks. It was because of a very bad accident that happened.

  • I would not let my child walk to school under any circumstances! These days you just can't be too careful.
