8 months old and still no teeth?

My dd has been teething since she was 3 months old. She is pulling herself up on things, crawling, saying dada, mama, and baba, waves hi, claps her hands, but still no teeth. I think she's going to be running all over the house before she cuts a tooth. How old are kids when the dentist has to cut their gums? I will fight tooth and nail (no pun intended haha) to prevent that from happening, but I'm just curious.

  • I could walk and talk before I had teeth. And I've never had a cavity. I think late teeth is a good thing for some of us. Also, I still had baby teeth at almost 13.

You don't have to let a dentist or doctor ever harm your baby like that. How barbaric! I'd switch.

  • I remember my mom telling me that my brother had to have his gums sliced open. I don't know how old he was, but I agree that it is downright awful to do that to anybody, especially a baby. I think I got my first tooth at 8 or 9 months, and still haven't had a cavity as well. I guess I'm just getting impatient lol. Thank you ladies for your input!

  • My 3 oldest didn't start getting teeth til around a year old. My best friend her oldest got her first tooth at 4 months. I'm thinking it might be genetic and wouldn't worry about it.

  • I only had one of my 5 that had teeth at 6 months the rest came at 9 and 10 months. The later the better they say. Relax they'll come.
