What can i do for my sick 9 month old

She is very congested. She has been coughing up a little bit of phlem and i can feel it when she breathes in her back and chest.Should i still take her to the doctor even though she hasn't been running a fever? Her cough sounds so horrible and i know she's having trouble breathing out her noise.

  • If you can feel her lungs rattling you need to take her in ASAP - not necessarily to the ER or urgent care, but to your regular doctor. It may be nothing, but it could be RSV.

  • Saline drops, booger sucker (bulb syringe), vicks vapor rub, cool mist humidifier.

  • Turn your shower on with hot water and shut the door. Sit in there with your baby for about 15 minutes and let her breath in the steam. That should help for a bit.

  • try the shower! if you breastfeed, then keep her to the breast as much as possible. it is easier to breathe while she sucks, and it is comforting as well. humidifiers are awesome in the winter time!
    good luck!
