  • The answer to your question is that babies generally start crawling between 5-7mo. Some later, some not at all.

  • after 6 months.

  • Every baby is different. And it depends on how much time you let them be on the floor too. Anytime after 5 months I will say. JMO

  • There is no "should" for crawling. The only "should" is that baby should be getting around somehow by 9 months, whether by rolling, scooting, army crawling, crawling, walking, however, it doesn't matter -- just getting around. Many babies start crawling around 6 or 7 months, but crawling itself is not a developmental milestone. It can happen earlier, it can happen later, or not at all, any of which is "normal".

If you're worried because your baby is older -- my son didn't crawl until 11 months, and he now runs around like any normal toddler at 2.5 yrs. It will happen when it happens. :)

  • It varies baby to baby. I've heard that some babies skip crawling all together (apparently I did). It is so wishy-washy that it isn't even considered a developmental milestone.

  • When it's ready.

  • My kids pediatrician has said that crawling varies so greatly that it is not considered a milestone, as far as the milestones that doctors look at. Mine both didn't crawl until 9 months, and then walked at 11 and 12 months.
