  • Ummm It's not hard. Buy some pots, some good soil and some plants. Make sure you have room to put them where they can get a good amount of sun. We plant tomatos, serranos and jalepenos in pots every year.

  • Container gardening is fairly simple. You can grow most vegetables and herbs, even some root veggies. I would gather pots or buckets and mix with 1/2 fill soil and 1/2 organic miracle grow potting soil. Start seedlings in a tray indoors, then transplant to your containers. Be sure to position each container so the plant gets the amount of sun it needs (some are full sun, some are part sun). You can also buy plants that are half grown, but last year that resulted in a widespread outbreak of plant disease and starting from seeds is the cheapest and best way.

  • Check out this site. My pal is an insane urban gardener. He's got EVERYTHING. And he responds to questions in a flash.

  • You can also get some great books on container gardening from your local library and you can call your state's agricultural cooperative & exchange for free information about gardening in your state, including information on what foodstuffs grow best in your climate, as well as how to create a home compost system and more.
