religion in the white house?

I got to thinking about the pope visiting the white house last year. There was a song "The battle hymn of republic" sang and the Our Father.

I wonder, would violate religion on state property? If so how was it allowed?

  • As long as the white house has other religion's leaders as guests as well, I don't care.

  • There is no way to violate "religion on state property" because it is NOT a Constitutional principle !!

Fact is, "separation of church and state" was first used to argue about a legal situation by SEGREGATIONISTS trying to oppose Civil Rights. It was bogus then, it is bogus now, and it has BEEN bogus all along.

Just because lawyers and media bombard us with it as if it WERE a real legal principle, don't buy into it !

Too little space here, but look it up for yourself - don't be gullible.

  • It doesn't matter. The Vatican is a sovereign state and the Pope is it's duly appointed leader.

  • also, you have to keep in mind that the White House is the Presidents family's home, not just a govt building.

Agreed. It would be no different than the Queen of England (also head of the Church of England) or the President of Slovakia visiting the White House.

  • it's not religion on state property, it's state establishment or preference of a religion.
