  • Call her doctor. When is the last time she ate something? Low carb, no suger food.Go to WEBMD.COM it might be able to help.

  • Give her water to drink. Exercise is good too. Does she have ketones? Those are more dangerous. They have special strips(i haven't had to check for ketones since my son was 2 ..his diabetes is pretty much stable for the most part these days) to check for ketones.

If she can go for a walk around the block, have her take a short, brisk walk. Even if it's just to the corner and back. Stay away from carbs. Peanut butter and Popcorn are considered "free' carbs if she has to eat something.

Have her call her doc if she feels nauseated, has blurred vision or begins to shake/tremble.(diabetic seizure)

  • Does she have any meds she is supposed to be taking? How much higher are her levels than normal? What has she eaten, if anything? Write the answers to those questions down and have them ready when you call her doctor, because if her levels are high and not going down, her doctor needs to know. In the meantime, she needs to drink water, avoid anything that will raise her blood sugar- high carbs, fruit or fruit juices, move around, and keep an eye on how she feels. Nausea, headache, blurry vision, slurred speech, clammy skin, or the shakes are all things to go to the doctor asap for when you are diabetic.
