  • oils on their coat mixed with dirt can cause them to get stinky. you bathe, right, so they need one too. My dog has skin allergies so i try not to bathe him more than twice a month. he gets stinky pretty damn fast from his allergies.

  • Depends on dog breed, some breeds can withstand frequent bathing, but in general, without any pre-existing conditions, a dog can be safely bathed every 4-6 weeks.

And I like the stink on my dogs coats! haa haa and their frito feet but it sure is nice when they get a bath too.

  • Make sure you buy a detergent and soap free shampoo. Kenic Dog shampoo is the brand I use. Shampooing once a month is fine as long as the shampoo has no detergent or soap. Detergents and soap strip the coat. Dogs do not have pours as we do so their skin takes longer to repair. Make sure not to strip it and you will be able to bathe often.

  • I bathe my black Lab once a week out side with the garden hose.  I purchase a special shampoo 4K9 Organic Dog Shampoo the shampoo has Lavender and Citronella in it which smell nice and helps repel fleas and ticks.  (I buy the shampoo at tj max $6.00 for 16 fl oz).

  • all dogs stink somewhat no matter how much a person may groom there dog. I would say it all depends on how often they're outside, how much they shed, how much hair they have, etc. like the pp said, once a week. that's typically good enough. you just have to make sure to use a decent amount of dog shampoo, scrub them really good, rinse them really good, and dry them really good. don't forget to comb/brush the dog is they have lots of hair.
