  • My oldest was just under 2 the first time she drew a face, she wrote her name without help right before she turned 4

My son was also just under 2 the first time he drew a face, but he wrote his name for the first time without help right after his 2nd birthday (about 3-4 months after). He is 3 1/2 now and writes he name very clearly.

My 3rd child will be 2 in May and hasn't attempted to draw a face yet :-)

  • My child wrote her first name right before she turned 3 (but she wrote it all in capital letters) and now at 4 she can write her first middle and last name without help and simple words like I (Heart) mom, cat, dog.

  • My son 2 1/2 and has no interest in writing his name. I know it will be quite a while. He draws circle (sorta) and puts marks in them to make a face. But you would never be able to tell what it is.

  • I don't remember with my older kids but my youngest daughter started drawing people (heads, faces, arms and legs) at 2 1/2 along with coloring in the lines. She started writing her first name several months ago when she was 3 1/2 thanks to preschool. My other kids didn't write their names until after they were 4.
