I can NOT get my son to poop on the potty! I have tried EVERYTHING!!!

I am at my whit's end. My son has (for the most part) done EXCELLENT with potty training! He has his accidents but I can NOT figure out how to get him to go poopy on the potty! I ask him why and his reply is "I don't know" --I will ask him "Do you need to go poopy?" or "Let's go poopy on the potty," his answer will be "No" and less than a MINUTE later he will poop in his pants! I don't know what is wrong. I offer rewards, I offer treats, I PRAISE LIKE YOU WOULDN'T BELIEVE with successes but I just can NOT get him to go on the potty. He will more frequently than not at daycare and it's not like he's NEVER gone poopy on the potty before, he's always so proud of himself when he does.

I AM AT MY WHITS END ... PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!!!

  • every child is different.. just stay consistent & patient he will get it.. most kids are not fully trained until 3 or 4 yr old.
my 11 yr old was trained during the day by 3 & wore pulls ups until 6 yr. My 7yr old,in feb, was fully trained day & night by 4 yr old, never wanted or needed a pull up. My 3 yr old , in feb, is just know showing an interest in the potty & always tells me after shes gone.

  • Have patience. If you get irritated everytime he doesn't poop on the toilet the kid's going to have anxiety attacks about using the bathroom. Using the bathroom takes time...give your kid time. He won't be in diapers forever. Eventually he'll come to terms on his own that using the potty is better than wearing a poopy diaper.

  • How can you NOT get frustrated when he poops SECONDS after you ask him if he needs to go? He KNOWS he needs to go just doesn't!

  • try taking him potty 30 min after a meal.. or if he poops around the same time everyday then you'll know when to put him on.. maybe he is scared.

  • He's VERY strong spirited. He will NOT sit on the potty AT ALL unless he has to go. From day ONE of potty training I taking him potty every XX minutes but unless he had to go it was NOT going to happen. He WON'T sit.
