What should I do if I never filed my taxes last year?

What happens if I didn't file last year's taxes and I was owed money. (don't ask) I know I should have but I never did. Can anything be done now to receive that money back?

  • Yes - file them now. They will pay up to the last 3 years for unfiled taxes.

  • What money back? If you owed last year you will still owe it and most likely wont get anything back. Just file this year. Any questions call the IRS

  • She said she was owed money not that she owed money.

You can file them anytime, as long as you didnt owe money to the gov or state you wont have a penalty or fees. They will still send you your refund.

  • Definitely file them now. You may be penalized for overpayment of taxes, but you should get most of what you are owed.
