RSV - 12 month old just diagnosed any advise?

He's been sick with different things for over a month, we were admitted to the hospital because he was so dehydrated and he contracted RSV. I'm exhausted and he is too. Any advise to help him get over this sooner?

  • Breastfeed a lot if you're breastfeeding.

    A humidifier does wonders.

Encourage belly-sleeping for now (he may do this anyway).

Take him to a practicer of accupressure - a chiropractor usually knows how to do accupressure - they can press on his sinuses/pull on his ears/press on his face to make his face and ears drain more efficiently. Don't worry, good ones don't adjust the spines of infants. They just do accupressure to improve circulation.

Put something to prop his mattress --ever so slightly-- at an incline so his feet are -every so slightly- lower than his head. (like, use 4 thinner childrens hardback books 2 on each side under the mattress at the head.. make sense?)

Put vicks on his feet.. NOT on his chest.. Or use vicks BABY rub on his chest.. never regular vicks this can make him worse..

I didn't give my son any medications and he got over his RSV in 2 weeks.

    TLC, & u take a rest

  • Continue to give him lots of TLC, fluids, and use the bulb to keep his nose cleaned out.

  • My son has rsv too, i have been using a cool mist humidifier, children's Triaminic cough and decongestant and he is doing breathing treatments with Albuterol If your already doing all that try giving him something hot to drink, honey tea is soothing, because it breaks up the mucus.

  • keep him away from people who might be sick. RSV is serious and your don't need your baby's condition to worsen. Follow your doctors orders and keep him away from germs until he is all well. Please!
