At what ages do you use spanking for? What age is the cut-off?

  • I start spanking if really needed at two years old and my oldest is almost twelve and if she needs it (which she never does) I'll still beat her lil' behind!

  • I only use it as a last resort.. my age cut off is 9 unless the behavior is very very bad, like stealing...
    & I never spank until at least 2 yr old. clothes on, with hand only...

  • No age is good for spanking. You can redirect and discipline your child without pain. Check out Love And Logic .  Good Luck.

  • As soon as a child can start talking back, including grunting in defiance, a one-finger-tap on the back of the wrist and a stern "No".

  • We started spanking around 18 months for offenses such as out right defiance. We will continue as long as necessary - but let me tell you, the sooner you start, the less you will have to do it. I only need to spank my near 3 year old maybe once a week or so now.
