prealgebra question.................

In a division problem where one number is positive and the other is negative is the answer positive or negative?

  • A positive divided by a negative will be negative. A negative divided by a positive always equals a negative. A negative divided by a negative will be positive. A positive divided by a positive will always be positive. I hope that helps.

  • if its addition/subtraction then it depends on which number is larger. ie -4+3= -1, 4+-3=1
    if its multiplication/division 1positive & 1 negative = negative, 1 pos & 1 pos= pos, and 1 neg &1 neg= pos.
