Do I still need a Pap after a hysterectomy?

I had a hysterectomy 3 years ago, and have not had a pap. None of the doctors say it's necessary. WTH?

  • If they took out your uterus and cervix, then there's no risk for uterine or cervical cancer, and no reason to screen. If you still have your cervix, they should still screen for cervical cancer.

  • I still get them every year, they swab my vagina because of a small risk of vaginal cancer. Also if you have ovaries, it's still a good idea to get a pelvic exam. If you don't have ovaries and are on hormones, again it's still a good idea to have exams with your gyn
