  • I did not have to take any extra, i walked as much as possible...until the last 5 weeks or so. i did not have to worry about eating any extra either...that came naturally. ALWAYS ask your doctor, not people like me...on the internet! Blessings,C.J.

  • No that would make you sick, but your doctor can help you with nutrition guidelines for your pregnancy.

  • I took regular prenatal vitamins, but my doctor did prescribe extra iron for me during my twin pregnancy. Your doctor will let you know if you need anything extra.

  • yes they will. a ex friend of mine took 2 prenatals a day in her early pregnancy and i think thats why she miscarried cause it stopped the growth of the baby at 8 weeks.

  • double prenatal, no.
i read a book, the author works in a multiples clinic. it is "when you are expecting twins, triplets or quads"
they recommend 1000 extra calories for each baby. they believe many twins are preemies b/c the mothers are malnourished.
4000 calories a day is very difficult! i didn't know i was having twins until 6 mos along, by then my belly was sooo full of baby i already had a reduced appetite.
i have read in magazines only 300 additional calories per baby, but i preferred the advice from dr's that delover full term full size multiples.
congrats on your twins!!! they will be lots of fun, and once they arrive, i say every 3 months is a lot easier!

  • No, I never took double prenatals. The only thing "special" I did or was told to do was drink Boost, the drink supplement. I saw 4 different doctors while pregnant with my twins and none of them said to increase my calorie intake. I was told to be sure to eat 3 meals a day plus one or two snacks. And when I ate to make sure I was getting alittle of everything.
