Just a question please not a debate just a question

My daughter is 9 months old and formula and baby food isnt doing it anymore for her.
I am just wondering how many moms started whole milk early?

She wakes up ever 2 - 3 hours to eat another 8 oz bottle sometimes she eats every hour and a half.
She isnt overweight she is 21 lbs and 30 inches so she is very tall.
I am going to ask her Dr about it when we go to her appoinment tomorrow I just wanted to see how many moms started earlier?

  • I started when Ally was about 9 months old. She wanted her sister's sippy cup and she NEVER took a bottle!!! She went straight from breast-feeding to sippy cups! But, I probably started EVERYTHING too early according to the Doctor's wishes!

  • I started at 11 months, mixing 1/4 milk with 3/4 formula. All whole milk by the time he was 1.

  • I don't think your pediatrician will want you to give her whole milk. Maybe MAKE baby food for her. My kids started with pureed grown up food at about 8 months and that really made a difference.

OUr dr had my sister start with her son at 6 months because he was the same. Dr said that it happens sometimes some kids just cant do formula very long.

  • I'm sorry. I see baby food, I do assume jar food. I apologize for offending. Such was NOT my intention by any means, Honey. I'm sorry.

  • I used JAR crap... organic jar crap cause I cook very badly...anyway, I have yet to hear very many ped's wanting to start earlier than a year on milk but hey, if you say it happens and in your family, then they'll probably do that for your baby too if she's such a good eater!

  • Probably not a good idea. It's shown to increase risks of allergies and weight-related problems. Your doctor is mis-informed, formula has the nutrition your baby needs, cow's milk does not. Switching this early can cause developmental delays because they aren't getting the nutrients they need.

Try some protein foods, like little pieces of cut up chicken. Finger foods might help instead of purees, and most babies can handle that stuff by now.

  • Why get pissy? She was helping, not berating you...geeze. Whole milk shouldn't be more filling than formula. Put more in her bottle/sippy and try giving her finger foods/same food you have been three meals a day. My son had formula until a month or two after one. He also ate like a man...LOL He could eat a kids hamburger, holing it himself, at 9.5 months. I gave him what we ate, minus seasonings and grease. But, everything, and nice portions. So, maybe give her more food/plus more formula.
