Breast-feeders needed in Haiti

Would you go over to Haiti to breastfeed these poor children? How about sending your own milk or would you buy formula for them?

  • I would send my own milk if I still was nursing and able to pump. I donated to a milk bank during the years I was nursing each of my own kids, and I will do it again in a heartbeat if we have another baby. Formula can be really dangerous when the situation is so bad there isn't clean water to mix it.

  • I would go there or pump for them if I were still able to get any milk out. I would hate to leave my own kids, but they are 2 and 4 years now and don't need my milk to survive.

  • The major aid organizations will not distribute formula, it's against policy. They promote breastfeeding and feeding breastfeeding mothers.

The milk banks are taking donations for Haiti and you can contact a milk bank about donating milk or money to help pay for shipping, processing, ect. I read about it a few days after the earthquake.

  • I think it's a good idea. It would feed the starving children AND reduce the number of bf vs ff feeding debates here on cm.

If you don't have clean drinking water to mix formula with, formula doesn't do any good.
