# Are you smarter than a 4th grader? The subject is Math...

Okay, so my nephew called me with a math problem. And no I'm not smarter than a 4th grader. Because I can't solve it.
You have 4 number you have to use to make 24. Either add, subtract, multiply or divide the numbers. You only have 3 steps you can use. Plus you can only use each number once.
Example. You're given 21,9,6,1
Step 1 is 21 plus 9 equals 30
Step 2 is 30 minus 6 equals 24
Step 3 is 24 times 1 equals 24

Alright!! So now he gives me 21, 21, 11, 2 and by using these numbers they still have to equal 24. Also 24, 3, 1, 1 and they must equal 24.
For the live of me, I can't get them to equal 24. Anyone know how?

• Ah, got the first, I think! Can you move where the answer is? I.e. 9 is not the first number in step 2

11-2 = 9
21 - 9 = 12
12 x 2 = 24

• just got the last answer

21 divided by 21= 1

1+11=12

12 x 2 = 24
