  • I go out and buy a nice gift, but we don't all out

  • Yes, we do! They work so hard on getting good grades! They get rewarded with a trip to Walmart and get to pick out something special in the $15 price range.

  • My guy is still little, but my parents used to take me to Showbiz Pizza when I got all A's. I LOVED it.
If I didn't get all A's, but didn't get a C, my mom would cook my favorite thing.

  • i dont see bribery as an answer. good grades are what is expected.

  • We did not do that with our children, just like we didn't celebrate Daddy going to work every day or Mom doing the laundry. They were expected to do their best, whatever that was. If they failed to do that, then we knew we had a problem. I think it sets a bad precedent to celebrate doing the right thing--that should be the standard and not the exception.

  • The only reward they get is us telling them how proud we are of them and to keep up the awesome work.

  • I have been debating this - my son is in 1st grade, and will be getting his first REAL report card here soon. I don't know what I am going to do.

  • My kids don't expect anything for good grades but for us to tell them how proud we are. And we do.

For whatever reason they have always tried their best and their grades show it. I did cry once when getting DD's report card; her math grade went from a C to an A+ and I was so proud of her that I could barely contain myself.

  • no. I don't believe in gifting something that they should strive to do anyway.

lots of praise and encouragement to keep doing a great job.

  • The most we do is possibly go out to eat. The only reason we do that though is because DS found out that his good report card gets him a free meal at the restraunt we like to eat at so he'll say hey mom can we go out to eat it won't cost anything for me?
