Chicago public and private schools: how to choose the best?

I have a 2 year old. We are thinking of buying the house and move: either in the city or go to North/Northwest surburbs. Where can I find out about schools?
Does it matter what grade school he goes to? or should Iconcider looking for better high schools at the same time?

  • Hi there. We live in West Rogers Park. I would love to talk to you about the Chicago Public school; it is one of my favorite topics. My daughter went to this private school for two years: www.npeschool.org It is a fantastic school, with an amazing parent community; not at all diverse; relatively inexpensive.

Through sixth grade, she was here: http://www.decaturclassical.org/

Currently in 9th grade, she has been here since 7th grade: http://www.wyoung.org/

  • Homeschooling is always the best and it is a great way to get into the best colleges. There are many online options now.
