What do you say to a friend (a co-worker) who just discovers she has breast cancer?

  • It's tough but not hopeless. There are many survivors of breast cancer. Let her know you're there for her if she needs anything.

  • Yeah, that's not easy for sure. But...Just tell her that you are sorry, but that there are so many treatment options out there for her, and just let her know that you'll be there for her every step of the way. Maybe you could offer to take her to a treatment, or watch her kids. And maybe, y'all could just go shopping, and have some special time together. If you aren't super close to her, maybe you could get her a card that's encouraging letting her know that you are here for her. Make her a goody basket, or a feel pretty basket, with shower gel, pouf, lotions, etc. Basically, just let her know that you are there for her. You are being amazing already because you care about her =)

  • really people need to learn better communication skills~ A simple "I'm sorry" and "I am always here if you need me!" will be sufficient!
