  • 10 or 11........

I only say that because even when I was 10...the first few times I spent the night at a friend's house, I was sooooo lonely, scared, and wanted so badly to go home! :)

I think mainly it's up to how much your child knows the folks she would be staying with.

  • We're really strict about this. They can only stay over nite at certain family member's houses. They don't do "over-niters" with friends yet. They're only 11, 10, and 7. Maybe when they're older but it would only be with people that hubby and I know VERY well and trust. It only takes one time for something to happen that can negatively alter the rest of their lives. I want to do everything in my power to protect them, and I know of a couple situations where things at a freinds' sleepover went horribly wrong.

  • 18.. i dont allow it. anything can happen, so until they are 18, they are free to do what ever they want.

  • I had (several) bad experience while staying @ my best friends grandfathers. I was 8, big enough to tell old enough to be ashamed. I never did- even when the FBI opened an investigation & busted her grandfather for NUMEROUS accounts of innapropriate behavior & other things. My son will NEVER sleep anywhere until he is 16+

  • We finally let dd start staying at the neighbor's house this year, after she turned 9. We know them well enough to trust them and have talked to her about telling us if anything uncomfortable happens.

  • My kids did so from about 3 y/o.... but it was always with family friends... practically family. With other friends they did from about 6-7.
