Can you help with Weight Loss :)

What should your daily numbers look like?

These are typical of the last few days for me:
I ate 1497 calories and burned 1059 (low impact aerobic for 112 minutes aka 8 Miles with Leslie Sansone)

I have only maintained weight for the past few days?!?!?

Am I eating too much? Not Enough?

Exercising too Much? Not enough?

  • keep in mind you are going to have weeks where your weight stays the same. The reason for it are increased muscle, not varying your workouts, water weight especially around your period.

Keep an eye on your sodium intake, you can watch your calories like a hawk but if you are taking in things that are 140 calories with 400-500 mg of sodium then your defeating the purpose (learned this the hard way lol).

I had 3 good weeks of weight loss then got to the week before my period and the loss came to a halt. I also hit a wall when i didnt change up my workout two weeks in a row. I try to vary it every week just a little bit.

Keep in mind inches are just as important if not more than actual pounds, Personally I would prefer to lose inches and build muscle and see the scale sit at the same place for a week because the increased muscle will help burn more calories in the long run :) Keep up the good work :)

  • monitor your heart rate, exercise is pointless if you aren't getting your heart rate up.

also keep in mind that muscle weighs more than fat, so you may be toning your muscles and dropping clothing sizes but still weigh the same.

  • Your weight will flucutate daily between 2-5 pounds, depending on your time of the month, what you have eaten, time of day you weigh etc.I suggest that if you are just starting, dont weigh daily as those numbers change alot.Weigh once a week or every other week.Focus on other areas such as inches lost.If you are working out and notice you are maintaining, how do your clothes feel?Chances are you have lost inches.Inches are as important as pounds. Also I cant tell you if 1400 calories are enough for your size, height etc.For me Im 5'7 weigh 125 pounds and I consume 1500-1900a day.(I workout 5-6 days a week)So unless you give specifics we cant tell you if its too much or too little.I suggest sparkpeople, thats where I track my fitness,meals/calories and they offer a ton of support.Good luck.

  • OP Here: I have lost 13 pounds BUT don't feel any different.

While I'm not monitoring it per se. I am kicking butt with Jillian Michaels (her "beginners" moves) and keeping up with Leslie on Walk Away The pounds ;)

  • What are you eating? Your meals should be based on whole grains, vegetables, legumes and fruits.

  • Are you breast feeding by chance? If so...increase your calories, your body could be in starvation mode. Something closer to 2300 calories a day. If not, then you should be eating a balanced diet between 1200 - 1500 calories plus daily exercise. Eat frequently to keep your metabolism up (stock up on low cal foods that are high in fiber to make you feel fuller longer...broccoli, green beans, fruits, etc.)

  • You have alot of carbs in your diet..which is understandable if you are working out hard as your body needs them.I dont see any fruits or veggies, you may want to add those to your diet as snacks versus pre packaged snacks.(thats what I do)
