Atheist Group Blasts Postal Service for Mother Teresa Stamp

An atheist organization is blasting the U.S. Postal Service for its plan to honor Mother Teresa with a commemorative stamp, saying it violates postal regulations against honoring "individuals whose principal achievements are associated with religious undertakings."

I find this insane. No matter WHY the woman did what she did, the things she did were AMAZING and SELFLESS and AWESOME. I wouldnt care if she was Catholic, Jewish, Muslim, Atheist, WHATEVER........shouldnt we be more celebrant of the good things she has DONE!? Would REALLY like to hear from the Atheist moms on this one? Do you agree with this (Freedom from Religion Foundation) group about the stamp?

  • As an atheist....I think it's moronic! The woman was a blessing, she should be honored far more so than many others shown on stamps.

  • I wish some would leave well enough alone already good grief..im not catholic and do not fully agree with some of the catholic teachings..BUT they too are christians the basics still stand the same..if folk do not like the stamp its simple do not purchase any there are plenty of others to choose from.

  • now Im not an atheist, but I have to agree with them on this one. Its just not fair that they have to tolerate exceptions that disrespect their beliefes. If it were a stamp with someone like Credo Mutwa on it, the religious would freak.

  • I think they must be bored. It's a stamp... Don't like it? Then buy postage with something else on it.

  • Kwanzaa isn't religiously related, and I think that those don't violate the rules b/c they dont have particular ppl on them attached to a religion, as does the Mother Teresa.

    I could be wrong...
