Does the "my baby can read" program work?

Only want comments if you have used the program please. Thank you.

  • I posted this answer before and at least one person found it helpful, so I hope it helps you (even though I am breaking your rule as I haven't tried it!)
I have never tried it, but as a reading specialist I can tell you it is a scam. If you want your child to get a "head start" then the best thing you can do is talk to them a lot, read to them a lot, let them learn through play and exploration and limit tv/screen time as much as possible. Even if your baby can memorize the words on the cards and learn to "read" them, it is not going to help them in the long run, the other stuff I said before will be much more valuable for your child in the long run that that silly program. A big waste of money if you ask me.

I have been using it with my daughter for 4 months now, and there is no improvement. She is a normal baby that likes to play with her toy piano and is not advanced. Her pediatrician has never seen the program successfully work either.

I figured if it gives her a heads up, then fine. All it has done for me is provide her 20 minutes of entertainment which works too, but knowing that I wouldn't dare pay full price for it.

  • it's a waste of money. teach your kid phonics when they are ready to read.
