What's the best disposable diaper?

Huggies, Pampers, Luvs, generic? My son is two months old, 13 pounds, and has been leaking out of his size 1-2 Huggies over the past several days. Before we switch to another brand, I wanted to hear some opinions.

  • Oh...and as a general rule...if diapers are leaking...its time to move up to a larger size.

  • My baby is very small, she's 9lb nearly 4mo. I am one for cheap diapers (I used Luvs for my older kids religiously) but I she kept peeing out of everything. I switched to Huggies Natural and haven't had a single leak through 5 packages now. We even went up to size one from newborn last week and still no leaks.

  • Swaddlers! We never had a problem with, I used them with the kids until they outgrew the sizes they made, then we did Luvs, which I think are awesome! Personally, I do not reccomend the Huggies Natural, because my son got a HORRIBLE rash from them.

  • It depends on your baby. Huggies gives both my kids diaper rash. The fragrance in the pampers diapers irritates my son's skin. We use the Kirkland Brand (Costco's generic) and have never had an issue. They are unscented. I also get Pampers Overnights for my daughter to wear at night...she sleeps 11-12 hours straight and they just hold a bit more than the generic ones do. Kirkland wipes are nice too. Fragrance free and they work well.

  • I use cloth and we've rarely had a leak with cloth. We do use disposables on occasion when we are traveling and with the Pampers Swaddlers I would say 60% of the time she poops, it leaks out the back. I've also used the Seventh Generation diapers and they also leaked poo. We've never had pee leaks.

  • Strange to get a rash from the only diaper that doesn't have harsh chemicals in it.

Probably a contact skin rash from the material- chemicals are not the only thing that causes rashes. I found those diapers to be less "smooth" for lack of a better word.

  • Huggies naturals do have harsh chemicals in them still. Those disgusting little white beads that absorb the pee... those are harsh chemicals.

We use cloth 99% of the time, we rarely have leaks, never have poo blow outs, and rashes have only come from teething poo. If in the off chance I need a disposible diaper I use the Target Up & Up brand.
You are always going to have more leaks, more blow outs, and more rashes with disposibles than you would cloth diapers though.

  • dd broke out in rashes from pampers so we switched to huggies. Then she would get a rash after I wiped her so I've been using pampers sensitive wipes and huggies diapers. She would leak occasionally but I just changed her more often. I haven't really had her leak throughout the night... full diapers yes, but not leaky.

  • Generic or seventh generation. They don't have as much junk as the other diapers do!
