  • Nope for once Iowa is going to miss this storm. My son school has been out 8 full days and 12 half days thanks to weather so glad it is staying south. We are very cold but that isn't a big deal we are always cold and used to it just glad the white stuff is not here.

  • we got about 1/2 inch of ice on the branches & lines (north OKC), but luckily we didnt lose power! the weathermen were predicting a white death, so we were prepared for the worse, but luckily it turned to sleet so we didnt get too much of the stuff that causes power outages. right now its snowing lightly, beautiful!

Just curious, what kind of natural gas heating system does not require electricity to function?

  • We have stoves anon that run on natural gas..and they do a decent job...plus we use oil lamps for lighting and they to put off a bit of heat..

As for our external furnace we can break out the generator if we have to

all of you ladies keep warm...it hasnt hit my area yet..

  • It should be here next OP, I am in SC.. Don't have gas but the house is hooked up to the generator and we have a fire place (wood).. It came in handy a few years ago when we had a ice storm and no power for 5 days...
