  • I pick them out for as long as I can!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was soooooo saddened when my daughter started to choose her own clothes at 12 years old!!! She loved the grungy skater look (blech!) - I preferred the preppy, dress & skirts look.....

  • My 5 year old is a little diva already she picks out her own clothes, but my 8 year old could care less and I still pick out her clothes..I think it just depends on personality.

  • When they were young I picked their cloths out. but when they got closer to teen years, they started to pick out their own cloths.

  • Most of my son's clothes are hand me downs from his two older cousins. One is a jock and one is a wannabe gangster. lol SO my son goes through and chooses what he likes form both boys. His school requires a uniform, so there is no choice there.
When we do buy new clothes I choose them. He is ten now, so I don't think I will be choosing them for long.

  • When my SKs will be staying with us, I let them pick. When they are going back to their mother's, I pick or give them choices based on what we have that came from her house or things that I don't care if they get lost or torn up. My SD is 9 and my SS is almost 6. They both like to pick things out to an extent, but they take a long time so if they don't pick them out the night before, I get to pick them out.

  • I buy the clothes, I pick them out. When they get older, if they want to buy their own clothes they will still have to fit within certain guidelines (skirt length, etc) but they can have more choice in what they wear. I wouldn't buy clothes that they absolutely hate, but it needs to be something we both like if I'm going to pay for it.
In the mornings, they generally pick out their clothes (they're 8, 10 and 12) and since I've already approved their clothes there isn't a problem.

  • I picked out my own outfits from the time I was 5. Lol

  • Both. I pick stuff out when they are not around. But if they are with me while i shop i let them make choices too. As long as they aren't wearing something inappropriate (which i have young boys so that has not yet been an issue) it doesn't matter to me if i like one style over another.
