  • lip gloss - 12, and then I'll add 1-2 items/year until it's all covered (blush/powder at 13, mascara at 14, eyeliner/shadow at 15, foundation at 16). I didn't take time to do all that in the mornings for school, but I wore it on the weekends when I went out.

  • Yes, when they are 12 or so I will let them wear a little eye shadow and tinted lip gloss if they want, but I would like them to be older to wear foundation and lipstick, eyeliner, mascara, blush.

  • 13 is a good age. I was allowed to START wearing makeup.. just minimal... at 13. I couldn't wear heels until I was 16.

  • OP, i think 12 is a little too young. I sometimes see girls that age at the mall with eyeshadow and stuff on their faces and they just look like little girls playing adult. I let my dd start with eyeliner at 14, that's all she wanted anyway.

  • When she can drive a car. And even then it has to be tasteful. I will not have a daughter who is obsessed with looks or convinced that she has to wear makeup. It isn't for everyone.

  • My dd has played w/lip gloss for quite awhile now(she is 9). The smakers stuff is mostly clear.
I say twelve is when I started learning to apply it and was interested so I guess she will be allowed then too.

  • This is why I am thankful I don't have a daughter. I HATE make-up. I view it as false advertising.

  • I'd say I'll allow eye shadow and lip gloss around age 13 or 14. Any foundations and stuff can probably wait until much later. I only started wearing foundation at 16 for I had acne. If my DD gets cursed with that I'll allow it earlier too.
