  • Not YET, because she's only 7. But I started dying my hair at 12. I may let her get her hair done PROFESSIONALLY, instead of doing it herself, at that age...But she's got REALLY thick and curly hair, and I don't think it is something I would want to keep up with. Hmmm. Maybe when she's 16 and can get a part time at McD's or BK.

  • I don't see the big deal about letting kids dye their hair. I do realize now though why my mom was like "Why would you want to dye your beautiful hair?" now that I have a little daughter who has lovely brown hair with red highlights. It's their hair, they can do what they want to it :)

  • I took my dd and had hers done by a pro for her 1st time at 13. She'll be 15 this yr. She 'had' the most beautiful natural blonde hair w/natural highlights people like me pay big for. She got the brightest red highlights! I was scared to death...but, I rather a professional screw it up than her or her friends. lol It actually looked/looks gorgeous! It goes so well with her green eyes and complexion. She's had the red re-done since then. Ha! This time she wants a spiral perm...she's going this Friday! ;) I look at it this's only hair. Ya right, I still won't let her cut it...not...yet. =)

  • I would be sad because my sons have the prettiest red hair. But if they asked we would do it. If they wanted it done at a young age then we would go to the day spa to get it done since they use organic dye and it is safer.

  • No. My dd has had highlights(very light) she has brown hair that naturally lightens in the summer. I would not allow her to have anything drastic(black, light blond). I want her to be happy w/who she IS.

  • momthruivf - Just because a kid wants to dye their hair doesn't mean they aren't happy with themselves. Maybe they just want to experiment with self expression.
